Since it became known that William Regal wanted out of AEW, many stories have begun to spread, such as him instantly regretting signing and being unappreciated by the AEW’s younger talent. And while only Regal himself can truly confirm his feelings, Brian Pillman Jr. has shot down the claim his coaching and advice weren’t appreciated, as he would say on Twitter that he, along with numerous others who would spend hours before television working with Regal and Bryan Danielson, thus disproving that claim.
As Regal has yet to comment on why he decided to leave AEW for WWE, nobody knows why. However, a simple theory is he considered WWE his home for two decades and wants to return to where he felt the most comfortable. Additionally, he was part of WWE’s developmental system for so long that much of the current WWE roster worked with him, and he wants to see him work alongside them again. And while it’s undoubtedly a significant loss for AEW to have Regal depart, there really was no benefit in keeping him if his heart isn’t with them.
