Mustafa Ali Is Reportedly Refusing To Do Jobs Post-WWE

Mustafa Ali has been undefeated since being released by WWE last year, which is very impressive considering that he has wrestled circa 30 matches. However, it appears this record has been built because the current TNA X Division Champion refuses to do jobs, with Bodyslam.net now reporting that he was omitted from New Japan’s Best of the Super Juniors tournament because of this. Whether this will affect his long-term future with the Japanese promotion remains to be seen, although he is booked for their upcoming show in Ontario, California.

“Although NJPW had plans to include him, Ali’s insistence on maintaining an undefeated streak became a point of contention. He stated that he would only participate if he could go through the tournament without a single loss … His outspoken approach and refusal to ‘job’ to other wrestlers ultimately led to his removal from the tournament lineup.”

38-year-old Ali’s big break came in 2016 when with WWE in 2016 while they were looking for cruiserweight talents. And while he never significantly pushed as a featured star, he was always over with fans who appreciated his in-ring ability and mic skills. Still, it is known he was sometimes disgruntled during his run, going as far as to request his release in January 2022 after Vince McMahon pitched him a gimmick that he felt was offensive and against his principles.
