Blackpool Combat Club Member Speaks On William Regal’s AEW Departure

On Sunday, it was reported by various sources that William Regal had finished with AEW and was set to return to WWE in a backstage role. So this obviously comes as a big blow to the Blackpool Combat Club, which he leads, with the name coming from his hometown. And now Claudio Castagnoli has revealed during a partially kayfabed interview with the Dallas News that he and the rest of the group don’t know the plan for the stable’s future. Seemingly indicating a premature end is a real possibility.

I mean, I guess we have to, we have to wait and see. You know, we’re still talking, I think we have to have a little group meeting to figure out what’s next, or if there’s a next. So yeah, I’ll leave it at that.

Since debuting for AEW, Regal had been a key performer, establishing the BCC as a top babyface group before turning on Jon Moxley to align with MJF. And with AEW rarely hotshoting storylines, it came as a big surprise when MJF tuned on his so quickly this past Wednesday. However, in hindsight, everyone involved knew that Regal was being written off AEW television, and there would likely be no storyline payoff concerning the BCC unless the group stayed together despite Regal’s departure.
