The Undertaker Says WrestleMania XL Gave Him Closure

During the main event of WrestleMania XL Night 2, The Undertaker would shock fans by making a surprise appearance, taking out The Rock and leaving the path clear for Cody Rhodes to finish his story. And now the WWE Hall of Famer has explained during his podcast’s latest episode that not only was it fun to get back in the ring, but it finally gave him the closure he needed on his legendary career due to their being fans in attendance.

“I’ve been struggling with it since I retired, but this weekend gave me closure. Wow, it really did. It was fun, obviously. Doing this for as long as I have and being involved in that storyline, it was important. But when it was over and I’m running out of the building, I felt like, ‘I’m good now.’ I don’t know if I needed it, because you know, my last match was in the Boneyard and there was nobody there, cinematic. It was like a moment of clarity; I’m okay now. I’m not saying I won’t do something like that in the future, but I no longer have that feeling in my chest that I’ve had since I retired. I needed to come to peace with it.”

The Undertaker

The Undertaker is one of WWE’s greatest-ever talents, having stood the test of time despite having started in an era where over-the-top gimmicks would come and go. However, with his body struggling to keep up with the rigors of the ring, he opted to finally retire in 2020 after the cinematic match with AJ Styles. Unfortunately, no fans were in attendance due to worldwide events, although the match is still highly regarded as it over-delivered, given the unique circumstances.
