Modern-Day Deathmatch Legend Puts His Career On Hold As He Battles Addiction Following Tragic Loss

Life has been difficult for Nick Gage in recent years, with the low point being the tragic death of his longtime partner, Sondra Culbertson, who described herself as his “ride or die chick” during his Darkside of the Ring episode. And now, it appears he is again struggling with an addiction issue as GCW owner and close friend Brett Lauderdale has announced on X that hGage is “currently in treatment” and is therefore off any shows he was advertised for.

“Nick Gage will not be attending any shows for the forseeable future. He is currently in treatment (and has been for several weeks) and plans to stay indefinitely.”Brett Lauderdale on X

45-year-old Gage, real name Nicholas Wilson, went from being a diehard wrestling fan to debuting for CZW in 1999. From there, he built a reputation as a deathmatch pioneer. And while a highly publicized prison stint for bank robbery derailed his career, he not only returned to the ring in the best shape of his life, but also achieved his career high in 2021 when he faced Chris Jericho on Dynamite.
