Matt Riddle Reveals Which Drug Made Him Fail WWE’s Drug Testing Policy

In December 2022, news broke that WWE had suspended Matt Riddle for 60 days after he failed WWE’s wellness policy for a second time, and subsequently, he was taken off television following an injury angle. Riddle would finally return to a WWE ring in April 2023; however, after a public meltdown at JFK airport in September, he would ultimately be fired by the company. And now, while being interviewed on Wednesday’s The MMA Hour, he has revealed it was because of cocaine he failed the drug test.

“You’re allowed to smoke weed. I went to the strip club and did some cocaine a couple of times, and I failed a drug test for that. That was for all of them, it was cocaine each time, but honestly, it was just random nights.

WWE tests you randomly, say any week, but sometimes you get tests at the end of one month and the beginning of another month. So, there was one week where I failed bang bang. I got two right at once, so I think that’s why they were a little bit more lenient with me.”

Given Riddle’s controversial reputation and the nature of his firing, some fans wondered whether the former WWE star would have trouble getting bookings going forward. Yet that doesn’t appear to be a problem, as since his non-compete expired, he has wrestled for MLW, The Crash, and New Japan and, in fact, is currently NJPW World Television Champion after defeating Hiroshi Tanahashi earlier this month.
