Lawsuit Against Matt Riddle Dropped

Just before his SmackDown debut, Samantha Tavel, who wrestles as Candy Cartwright, alleged Matt Riddle had assaulted her while they worked for EVOLVE. After rejecting his advances, she claimed he forced her to perform a sex act on him as others in the same vehicle slept.

Riddle would deny this allegation through his attorney, and WWE stood by him and pushed him despite the accusation. Later though, it did come out that Riddle and Tavel had been secretly involved, but he stated everything during their relationship had been consensual. However, he would go on to file a restraining order against her but later withdrew it.

Then on October 8th, 2020, Tavel filed a lawsuit against Riddle, WWE, EVOLVE, and their booker Gabe Sapolsky. While all other defendants would be removed from the case due to their connection to the allegations being unproven, Riddle had remained. Now though, it has been confirmed that the lawsuit against Riddle has officially been dropped. Tavel’s attorney would tell TMZ, “The parties have put this in their past and are focused on the future.” It isn’t known if Tavel received any financial settlement from Riddle in order for her to do this.

Riddle is currently one of WWE’s most prominent stars, a favorite of Vince McMahon, and therefore heavily featured on television most weeks. He is presently aligned with Randy Orton on Raw with a team name called RKBro. Plus, he recently defeated Drew McIntrye to qualify for the upcoming Money in the Bank ladder match.
