It’s been a crazy few days with the #SpeakingOut movement sweeping the wrestling world. It’s already seen Matt Riddle seek legal counsel, Jack Gallagher released by WWE, and Jimmy Havoc sent to rehab. Now Impact Wrestling has announced that both Joey Ryan and Dave Crist are no longer with the company, and Michael Elgin has been suspended pending a review of the allegations made against him.
While the allegations against all three men are disturbing, the sheer number of accusations made against Joey Ryan is shocking. As of writing, they stand at 16 and has already resulted in him closing Bar Wrestling, which is the independent promotion he started. It’s believed all of Impact’s unaired footage of his Cancel Culture gimmick will be scrapped.
The suspension of Michael Elgin will potentially change Impact Wrestling’s upcoming Slammiversary PPV as he is scheduled to compete in a five-way intergender match for the Impact Wrestling World Championship. Much of the build to the show has already been taped, so significant editing could be required.
