Twitter has been filled with allegations of sexual misconduct against numerous wrestlers over the past 24 hours with #SpeakingOut trending. One of the most high profile names accused was Matt Riddle, with an allegation coming from female wrestler Candy Cartwright who claims he assaulted her in 2018. In her tweets, she describes how they were traveling in a van together, and while three other wrestlers slept, he grabbed her by the throat after she rejected his advances and had to perform a sex act on him.
Following the allegation, Matt Riddle sought legal advice, and his attorney, David J. Rose, issued the below statement stating the claims are false, and the Cartwright has been stalking him and his family.
The allegations by this independent female performer are completely false and another attempt to harass and humiliate Mr. and Mrs. Riddle and to try to tarnish their reputation in the community. We have been aware for the last two years of this performer stalking the Riddle family. In 2019, our firm had drafted a pleading against this performer to seek an injunction for cyberstalking in the Circuit Court for Orange County, Florida. Attorney David J. Rose
WWE policy is that if a talent is arrested for what Riddle has been accused, they will be suspended. As that hasn’t happened, WWE still looks set to air Matt Riddle’s SmackDown debut tonight.
