Will Ospreay Shares Post-Surgery Update

Will Ospreay was written off AEW television following his match at Forbidden Door, which took place in his home country, after it was reported that he likely needed back surgery. And now, after he revealed during an interview that he was “terrified,” having never been operated on before, he has taken to X to confirm that he happily confirm that “surgery was a success.” How long he will now be absent from the ring is unclear, although it seems doubtful he’ll remain sidelined well into 2026.

32-year-old Ospreay first began wrestling for AEW in 2022, as the promotion had a working relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling. This would see him involved in several show-stealing matches, leaving most to assume that Tony Khan would do whatever it took to sign him, especially given that WWE was also monitoring his contract situation. Therefore, when Ospreay officially became All Elite, having signed a big-money contract, Khan wasted no time booking dream matches for his fellow sickos, with Bryan Danielson, Konosuke Takeshita, Swerve Strickland, and MJF among his pay-per-view opponents.
