Just days after AEW’s Will Ospreay took to social media to share the joyful news that he had gotten engaged to fellow wrestler Alex Windsor, he has now returned to disclose on X that his grandfather has sadly died. The AEW star wouldn’t disclose any specific details but would say his grandad “was a bloody hero to me” and acknowledged that fan support had eased his pain.
32-year-old Ospreay first began wrestling for AEW in 2022 due to the promotion’s working relationship with New Japan. Subsequently, he would frequently put on show-stealing matches, leaving most to assume that Tony Khan would do whatever it took to sign him when the opportunity arose. Yet while it wouldn’t be until 2024 when he officially joined the AEW roster full-time, Tony Khan has wasted no time when it comes to booking dream matches as the British wrestler has already faced Bryan Danielson, PAC, Konosuke Takeshita, MJF, and Swerve Strickland on pay-per-view.
