The Truth Behind Sammy Guevara AEW Exit Rumors Revealed

Earlier this week, Sammy Guevara ignited widespread speculation across wrestling social media after posting the simple message “New bio” on X. Fans quickly checked his profile, noticed the lack of any AEW mention, and assumed he had deliberately removed the company while seeking a release. However, Bryan Alvarez has now clarified the misunderstanding on Wrestling Observer Live, explaining that Guevara had never included AEW in his biography in the first place. Alvarez confirmed the former TNT Champion remains under contract and that his status with the promotion is unchanged.

“So what happened was, he tweeted ‘New bio,’ and somebody went up there, looked at his bio, saw there was no AEW mentioned in it, and then they spread around the internet that he had ‘removed’ AEW from his bio. I have been told that he never had AEW in his bio. AEW was never removed from his bio. Someone thought he had removed it from his bio, which is why this whole story came out that he wanted out or had gotten his release.– Bryan Alvarez

Guevara’s AEW career has featured dramatic highs and noticeable lows since he debuted as one of the original Four Pillars alongside MJF, Darby Allin, and Jungle Boy. Early success arrived through multiple TNT Championship reigns and thrilling high-flying matches that cemented his status as a top star. However, he has also faced suspensions and a reduced presence on AEW television, appearing more regularly for Ring of Honor instead. Yet through it all, Guevara has maintained that he stands ready to perform whenever the opportunity arises.
