While social media has enabled celebrities to interact with their fans, it has also led to fraud, with con artists using it as a means to deceive the unsuspecting. And now, in an attempt to ensure that fans of Jeff Hardy are not taken in, the WWE legend’s wife, Beth, has taken to X to confirm not only is the new Jeff Hardy Instagram account launched using his TikTok handle fake but also is the Facebook account that has somehow managed to get verified is fake.
Over the years, numerous professional wrestlers have taken to social media to warn fans that they aren’t using private or secret accounts to solicit money. However, sadly, this message doesn’t always get through to the people that need it. An example of this occurred just last year when one elderly man named Alfred was conned out of around $1 million by a scammer pretending to be Alexa Bliss. And while this is a tremendous amount of money, in the grand scheme of things, it is just a drop in the ocean, with reports in 2023 stating that around $13 billion was actually lost to this type of fraud annually.
