AEW’s Keith Lee Believed To Have Quietly Retired

Keith Lee’s prolonged absence from AEW has fueled numerous rumors throughout the wrestling industry. And now, according to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live, insiders believe the powerhouse may be finished with in-ring competition entirely, not just stepping away from AEW. While Lee has not yet made any official announcement, the reports point to a potentially heartbreaking end to an impressive career defined by resilience and raw power, one that left fans wanting more.

There’s been a lot of talk about Keith Lee over the last couple of days. From talking to people, the belief within the business is that Keith Lee is done. We’re not talking like when he’s done with AEW, he’ll go elsewhere. It is believed that he is likely just retired. So, we won’t get the return to AEW if that is the case. That’s what everybody believes right now.– Bryan Alvarez

Throughout his wrestling journey, Lee has overcome major health challenges that tested his physical limits. An undisclosed injury sidelined him in NXT during 2019, while heart inflammation in 2021 forced him to take a five-month hiatus from WWE. By late 2023, it’s understood he was wrestling through significant pain and was ultimately pulled from AEW World’s End at short notice, and in 2024, he underwent unspecified surgeries. Yet despite these setbacks, Lee has consistently expressed optimism about his recovery and future in the ring.
