Matt Riddle recently surprised the wrestling world by cutting off his signature long hair and embracing a fresh new look, unveiling the change on Instagram after an MLW show. And now, according to Fightful Select, he made this decision because keeping his vibrant purple dye had become too difficult. Now sporting a much more strait-laced look, the former UFC fighter continues to rebuild his brand following his firing from WWE.
“Matt Riddle cut his hair. Huge news. He told us at MLW last week it was getting hard to maintain the purple in it and he wanted to start over.” – Fightful Select
Since returning to the indies in February 2024 following his September 2023 WWE release, Riddle has enjoyed notable success. He captured the MLW World Heavyweight Championship in January 2025, holding it for an impressive 245 days, and also secured the NJPW World Television Championship. However, it seems any hopes of him rejoining or signing with WWE remain some way off after he developed a reputation for no-showing events, casting doubt on whether he had truly changed his ways.
