WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long has called for Vince McMahon to return to power, claiming the company needs its legendary founder back to fix poor creative and win back frustrated fans. In a recent interview with TMZ, Long said WWE is missing the magic it had under McMahon’s leadership and urged the company to bring him back “so we can do this thing right.” Despite the serious allegations against 80-year-old McMahon, Long insisted that running WWE has always been his lifelong passion.
“We’ve got to get Vince McMahon back so we can do this thing right and get the fans back on board, man. I don’t think the chapter has ever closed with him. I think Vince, you know, the way that I like, I said, I don’t know what happened or any of that stuff, but to me, in my knowing him, this was his life. He loved this. This was his life.” – Teddy Long
Long’s deep loyalty to Vince McMahon stems from a successful 15-year working relationship. He joined WWE in 1998 as a referee during the Attitude Era, then transitioned into a heel manager role at McMahon’s personal encouragement in 2003. In 2004, Vince appointed him SmackDown General Manager, making Long the first African-American authority figure in company history. Long has repeatedly credited McMahon with believing in him and shaping his career, and has maintained deep respect for the boss even years after his release.
