Between late December and Early January, a series of e-mail exchanges took place between the WWE Board of Directors and Vince McMahon. The gist of those e-mails was Vince McMahon making it clear to the Board that he was seeking reinstatement as the WWE’s Chairman of the Board.
Now, I’m not going to get into THAT story here. You can read all about the specifics on hundreds of other sites, what I want to zero in on is one of those e-mails that EVERYBODY should be talking about . . . but no one is. Is this just being overlooked? Missed? Ignored? Read CAREFULLY.
Indeed, we would welcome you and your advisors playing an important role in that process, including working together to identify the full range of potential alternatives and counterparties. To that end, we suggest that your bankers and lawyers meet with our bankers and lawyers in the first week of January to discuss how to best move forward together with this process. Although we welcome your participation in the launch of a strategic alternatives review process, it is also our unanimous view that your return to the Company at this time, while government investigations into your conduct by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and SEC are still pending, would not be prudent from a shareholder value perspective.
Did you read what I just read? Read again. See it? OK—let me SPELL IT OUT FOR YOU!!! “It is also our unanimous view .”UNANIMOUS VIEW. It was the UNANIMOUS view of the Board, that Vince McMahon returning to the WWE would NOT be “prudent from a shareholder value perspective.” UNANIMOUS VIEW OF THE BOARD. The Board consists of NICK KHAN, PAUL LEVESQUE, and STEPHANIE McMAHON.
Are you getting that? The guy that Vince McMahon hired to a High Profile Role and Prominent Position in his Company, his Son-in-Law, and his DAUGHTER are on the Board that voted UNANIMOUSLY that it was not such a good idea to bring him back. Bro—NICK KHAN, TRIPLE H, and STEPHANIE McMAHON voted AGAINST Vince coming back to the WWE as Chairman of the Board.
WHAT?!!! Wouldn’t you “assume” that these three high-ranking WWE officials AND BLOOD would be Vince’s GREATEST ALLIES?!!! Well—GUESS NOT—they voted AGAINST their Boss, Father-in-Law, and Father coming back to HIS COMPANY!!!
Now, logically, there are only two explanations for this:
- Nick Khan, Triple H, and Stephanie McMahon WERE INDEED making a Power Play to take over the company in Vince’s absence, being absolutely OBLIVIOUS to the fact that not only was Vince going to play the card that he wasn’t going to approve any media rights decisions if he WASN’T reinstated as Chairman, and, OH, BY THE WAY, as Majority Shareholder he could make the needed moves to REINSTATE HIMSELF ANY WAY!
OR . . .
- Nick Khan, Triple H, and Stephanie McMahon were ALWAYS in Vince’s camp, understood the outcome of his COO in advance, and just went along with the Board to “unanimously” keep Vince out, knowing EXACTLY what cards he was going to play!!!
Now, with this all being speculation, it would be more feasible that option 2 is the more logical scenario. Knowing Vince, and knowing him well, Steph, “Trips,” and Khan HAD to know in advance what chess moves Vince was going to make—with him CHECK MATING everybody in the end. But, if for some reason they didn’t?
Was it, in FACT, a Power Play that backfired on all three, with the end result being Vince VOWING that the only way you three will take over my company is OVER MY DEAD BODY!!! OR, I will SELL MY COMPANY before I let you take over the reins!!!
Think about it. What a story. WHY IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT THIS?!!!
