Drew McIntyre is set for a featured match at SummerSlam, where he will team with Logan Paul against Randy Orton and Jelly Roll. However, it now appears the match is at risk, as the Scottish star has revealed on social media that due to an issue with his passport, he wasn’t permitted to return to the US from the UK this past weekend.
Initially, some fans believed this was part of an elaborate storyline, as McIntyre blamed Jelly Roll, but PWInsider.com quickly reported that it was a legitimate situation. And now Fightful Select has confirmed this, but added that the belief is WWE will rectify the problem in time.
40-year-old McIntyre rose to prominence as “The Chosen One” in WWE and looked set to be a massive star during his first run with the company. Yet, that wouldn’t happen, and he was somewhat unexpectedly released in 2014. Still, he wouldn’t give up on his WWE dream, and after reinventing himself on the independent circuit and in TNA, he returned to the company in 2017 to immediately be pushed as a top star in NXT. This would lead to another main roster call-up in 2018 and ultimately result in him headlining WrestleMania 36 against Brock Lesnar.
