Tony Khan Addresses Adam Copeland’s AEW Long-Term Status Amid WWE Return Speculation

Adam Copeland, who previously wrestled as Edge in WWE, made the bold decision to switch promotions in 2023 and has since become one of AEW’s biggest stars. And while there had been speculation that Copeland could return to WWE to be one of John Cena’s final opponents, Tony Khan confirmed during a new interview with Ariel Helwani that this was never going to happen, as WWE never reached out to him.

Additionally, Khan would state that while Copeland is currently off AEW television due to filming commitments, “he’s still with us and will continue to be.” This therefore suggests Copeland either signed a contract extension or injury time was added to his deal after he broke his leg following an ill-advised cage dive.

"Adam's going to be here with us through the year. Adam Copeland is a huge part of AEW, and I have so much respect for him. I really, really like Adam a lot, and I'm glad to have him here. Even though he's away filming, he's still with us and will continue to be."[/su_quote

Copeland’s AEW career began with him reigniting his rivalry with former tag partner and childhood friend Christian Cage, which quickly made the WWE Hall of Famer a central figure in Khan’s promotion. Still, at the age of 52, his time in the ring is obviously coming to an end, and it will now be fascinating to see how his career concludes with several fresh matchups still available in AEW.
