Once Adam Copeland moved from WWE to AEW and had to give up the ring name Edge, it appeared that he would be using his real name going forward. However, earlier this year, he began going by the ring name “Cope,” stating in an interview, “It looks sexier on a marquee.” Yet, it now appears he has reverted to using his real name, as AEW has updated how he is listed on their roster page.
The belief is that Cope’s AEW contract expires around October 2026, with it known that he intends to retire at its conclusion. Yet given that he missed a significant amount of time due to injury and is currently working on acting projects, it is possible that the agreement could be extended. Of course, if the WWE Hall of Famer wants to retire at a specific time, it’s unlikely AEW would force him to continue. Instead, they would likely make his send-off just as memorable as they did with Sting.
