The Contracts Of Popular AEW Tag Team Are Reportedly “Up Very Soon”

Recently, AEW has let the contracts of several talents expire, seemingly believing their roster has grown too large over the past few years. Yet, while this is obviously disappointing to talents who are deemed surplus to requirements, it is part of the wrestling business. And now suggesting that the futures of Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy, collectively known as Private Party, could potentially be elsewhere, Dave Meltzer has reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that their contracts are “up very soon.

Private Party made their name on the indies before signing with AEW in 2019 and subsequently caused a massive upset in the tournament to crown the inaugural AEW World Tag Team Champions by defeating The Young Bucks in the first round. However, due to the presence of bigger-name teams and Quen suffering an injury that sidelined him for over a year, the duo fell down the pecking order.

Still, in a move few saw coming, they would achieve their career highlight by winning the AEW World Tag Team Championships from the Young Bucks during Dynamite’s Halloween-themed episode last year, which, had they lost, would have meant they had to disband. From there, they would proudly hold the belts for 84 days, although since dropping them to current champions The Hurt Syndicate back in January, neither man has been used by AEW.
