Teddy Long Addresses His Son’s Death & Reveals Who In The Business Reached Out To Him

In truly heartbreaking news, it was reported earlier this week that Teddy Long’s son Antione had unexpectedly passed away. At the time, details were sparse, with fans devastated for the WWE Hall of Famer, who also lost his wife of 40 years, Tasha, in 2022.

However, Long has now addressed his son’s passing on the latest episode of his podcast, revealing Antione was found lying fully clothed on his bed last Friday, seemingly having passed the day before. Additionally, Long acknowledged those who contacted him to offer their condolences, mentioning several big WWE names.

“He passed, I believe, last Thursday. We found him Friday. He was in his home. He was unresponsive. So basically, I’m waiting on the autopsy to let us kind of know what really happened. He was lying on his bed, still had his clothes on and everything … A lot of people acknowledged that and texted me, people from WWE, and I want to say those names now too, to let them know how much I appreciate it. Mark Henry was one of them. Bruce Prichard, Michael Hayes, The Godfather, Eric Bischoff, Natalya, Ron Simmons, JBL, and Stephanie McMahon.”Teddy Long

77-year-old Long initially made his name in the business as a referee before becoming an on-screen manager and later authority figure. And while he hasn’t worked full-time in the wrestling industry since 2014, fans fondly remember him, primarily due to his time as the General Manager of SmackDown. Therefore, when WWE wants to embrace nostalgia, Long has typically been one of the first names they contact.
