Sean Waltman Says He Wasted Years Of His Life And Wants To Wrestle For WWE Again

Sean Waltman’s wrestling career in the big leagues came to a halt after contracting hepatitis C. He couldn’t get cleared to complete in some states due to it being transmitted via blood. This limited Waltman to wrestling on indie shows and making occasional non-wrestling appearances for WWE. However, his hepatitis C is now cured due to using expensive direct-acting antiviral tablets, and he recently had surgery to get his injured knee repaired. Now, in an interview with SI.com, he has spoken about wanting to wrestle for WWE again but is open to wrestle elsewhere.

I’d be psyched to have more matches in a WWE ring. If they’re not interested, there are a lot of other places putting on great matches, too.

I didn’t leave this business on my terms, I wasted a lot of years of my life wandering around in the darkness, but I’m grateful that I still have some time left. And the style has changed, which is good. The bumps are more meaningful than in my era, which is a difference, but they bump less. That extends your shelf life.

I watch the product now and I think, if I had both knees under me, I could keep up with a lot of these guys. If people want me, I’ll do it, but I am also mindful of being an older guy taking up too much oxygen. That’s not what I want. If there is some room for me to have a few matches, that’s all I want.Sean Waltman

While Waltman has been troubled by personal demons throughout his career, he appears to be in a much better place now. He is also set to be inducted for a second time in the WWE Hall of Fame next month. Considering his relationship with WWE and who runs NXT, it isn’t beyond the realm of possibility he could compete on a future TakeOver. Considering how great a performer he was during his prime and the fact he broke down barriers for smaller wrestlers, it would be great if his in-ring career could end on his terms.
