Earlier this week, guitarist Nita Strauss announced she was leaving the Alice Cooper band, canceling upcoming solo festival appearances, and she also added: “I don’t know what the future will hold after this, but I am forever thankful.”

Strauss, who joined Alice Cooper’s band in 2014, said: “After this absolutely incredible run in Europe, it is bittersweet for me to let you guys know that I will not be joining the Alice Cooper band for the upcoming fall tour. I will also regretfully have to cancel the festival dates my solo band had planned for the rest of the year. “I AM NOT PREGNANT!!! There is no drama whatsoever and my touring year is still VERY full- in fact, I’m on a flight straight into the next adventure as I post this, and I’ll be on stage again much sooner than you think! But that’s news for another day. The past eight years together has been the experience of a lifetime, and I could not be more grateful to Alice and Sheryl Cooper, Shep Gordon, the amazing band, crew and fans for welcoming me to all of your nightmare. I don’t know what the future will hold after this, but I am forever thankful”.

Rumors have swirled about what band Strauss might join next. Some fans have speculated that Strauss may join Evanescence. Last month, Evanescence announced they were splitting with longtime guitarist Jen Majura, who said she was “hurt” by the move.

Metal Sludge also reported that Strauss might join the touring band of singer Demi Lovato, though nothing has been confirmed. The site also reports that Cooper may recruit former guitarist Kane Roberts to fill the vacant guitar spot. Lovato is set to tour on the back of her forthcoming album “Holy Fvck” which comes out Aug. 19. Lovato has indicated that she is moving away from her pop sound and going with heavier, more punk-inspired music. “It’s a new era reminiscent of my first era,” she said. “I’m ever-evolving, ever-changing. I’d like to put the rest of my music behind me and start fresh in this new era for this next album — but I do that every album cycle.” Lovato also recently released the album’s debut single, “Skin of my Teeth.”

Strauss’ Alice Cooper bandmates responded to her announcement that she was leaving. Guitarist Ryan Roxie wrote: “”No words — just notes… and lord knows we harmonized a lot of them over the years… nothing but love and respect.” Drummer Glen Sobel added: “You’re super pro and prepared no matter what the situation. We’re gonna miss you but we’re also proud to be associated with Hurricane.” Strauss replaced Australian guitarist and former Michael Jackson player Orianthi in 2014 after she was recommended to Cooper by Kip Winger. She released a new solo song, “Dead Inside,” last fall. The track featured guest vocals from Disturbed frontman David Draiman.
