Eric Young, the veteran TNA star and multi-time World Champion, was granted his release on Wednesday, immediately sparking speculation about the 46-year-old’s future. And now, according to F4W’s Bryan Alvarez, the former TNA wrestler is set to return to WWE in a new capacity as a player-coach in NXT, with it known he has a positive relationship with Triple H. Young will seemingly focus on developing the next generation of talent while remaining available for competition in a hybrid role.
“Eric Young expected to be a ‘player/coach’ in NXT.” – Bryan Alvarez
Young first signed with WWE in 2016 and quickly made waves in NXT as the chaotic leader of SAnitY. The stable delivered several memorable moments, including competing in the inaugural WarGames match and capturing the NXT Tag Team Championship. However, once called up to the main roster in 2019, the group struggled to gain momentum, leading to Young’s release in 2020. He briefly re-signed in late 2022 but made no television appearances during that stint and requested his exit, citing moral reasons tied to Vince McMahon.
