Roman Reigns’ Crown Jewel Opponent Officially Announced

It had been rumored that either AJ Styles or John Cena could face Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel next month for the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. However, after Reigns made his return to SmackDown last week and had a confrontation with LA Knight, it has now been announced that the former TNA star will be his opponent. This will only be Reigns’ second title defense since SummerSlam, where he reportedly suffered a back injury.

Knight, who will turn 41 just before the event in Saudi Arabia, previously worked for WWE a decade ago under the ring name Slate Randall. However, due to being portrayed as an enhancement talent, he would only last on the NXT roster for just over a year before being released. Nevertheless, he wouldn’t give up on his dream, and after becoming Eli Drake on the indies, he showed everyone what he was capable of as part of the TNA and NWA rosters. Thus, when WWE was looking to bring in fresh talent in early 2021, he was given a second chance to be a WWE Superstar.
