Vice recently announced that their four-part pro-wrestling docuseries “Who Killed WCW?” is set to premiere on June 4th. And while some fans are less than enthusiastic, given this topic has been covered multiple times over the years, with The Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions and the people behind “Dark Side Of The Ring” involved may not just be a rehash of old stories.
Yet while it’s known that Eric Bischoff, DDP, Bill Goldberg, Booker T, Vince Russo, Madusa, Bret Hart, and Kevin Nash have all been interviewed, the absence of Ric Flair, a figure synonymous with WCW, was unexpected. And now, having learned of the series and his exclusion the 16-time world champion has taken to X to vent his frustration.
“As Usual More Bullsh*t, No Interview With Ric Flair Who Was WCW, And Who Made Everyone There For 20 Years. Run By The The Same People Who Killed The Company. How Embarrassing!! A Documentary About WCW Without Me! And According To @EBischoff On @83Weeks, I Was The Greatest WCW Wrestler, And I Made Everyone In The Company As There Wouldn’t Be Anyone Without Me. Diamonds Are Forever And So Is Ric Flair! For You Haters, Please Go To 83 Weeks With Eric Bischoff If You Have A Problem!”
While not having Flair involved appears to be a significant oversight, it doesn’t seem anyone currently signed with AEW features, which could be the simple explanation. Still, it is somewhat surprising that Flair would even want to be involved in anything connected to Vice and “Dark Side Of The Ring,” considering that their infamous Plane Ride From Hell episode severely tarnished Flair’s reputation in 2021. Although perhaps having proven he can’t be canceled for good, Flair has moved on.
