News On NXT Getting New Television Home

In September, WWE announced that SmackDown was moving to the USA Network on a five-year deal starting October 2024. Initially, it seemed that this meant the USA Network would be the future home for all WWE’s brands. However, it was later confirmed that due to how much they were paying for SmackDown, both RAW and NXT would be looking for a new home. And now, via PWInsider.com, it has been reported that following negotiations, NXT is potentially headed to the CW Network next year.

“Multiple sources in the broadcast industry have confirmed that the CW Network and WWE have been in deep discussions for weeks about NXT shifting from its current basic cable home on the USA Network to a traditional broadcast television home, airing live weekly on the CW Network when the brand’s current media rights deal ends in September 2024.”

NXT launched in 2010, following the end of WWE’s version of the ECW, and became its own brand in 2012. As a developmental show, it would be broadcast via the WWE Network, but when it became counter-programming for AEW Dynamite, it moved to the USA Network in 2019. This would see the Wednesday Night Wars grip wrestling fans’ attention until WWE and the USA Network agreed to move to Tuesday nights in 2021 to stop splitting the audience.
