NXT Talent Quietly Moved To The Main Roster

WWE will typically have wrestlers learn how the company works in NXT for a couple of years before calling them up to the main roster; however, in some cases, talents have been fast-tracked. And now Dave Meltzer has reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Dragon Lee, who only made his NXT debut back in March, is officially on the main roster. The brand he’ll be on wasn’t identified, although it was noted that the 28-year-old was always expected to be called up based on his contract.

“Dragon Lee did so well with Dominik that it looks like he’s now on the main roster. The nature of the deal he signed did indicate he’d be on the main roster after one year in NXT to begin with, but the match with Dominik may have sped up his timetable. He was legitimately debating between AEW and WWE last year when both made their offers and WWE did indicate main roster money in the deal for year two.”

Dragon Lee is a second-generation wrestler who made his name in his home country of Mexico as part of CMLL before working for New Japan, Ring of Honor, and AAA. Additionally, he wrestled for AEW during their AEW World Trios Championship tournament in August 2022, teaming with Andrade and Rush against The Elite. And while it’s known AEW tried to sign him, he instead opted to join WWE due to the financial package they offered him and the belief he would get more opportunities.
