Mr. Iguana stole the show at last weekend’s Worlds Collide show, with the AAA star grabbing the attention of WWE fans due to his look, charisma, and, most importantly, his toy iguana. Therefore, it was expected that WWE would look to cash in as quickly as possible by having him become part of the NXT roster and producing as much merchandise as they could.

However, while speaking to Linea Directa TV, Mr. Iguana would reveal he is set to bypass developmental, disclosing he was told “you’re heading straight to the main roster” and that you’re “the fastest rising star when it comes to action figures and trading cards.” Yet it appears the luchador shouldn’t have been so forthcoming, as according to the editor of Super Luchas on X, the interview has now been edited, seemingly at the request of WWE, to move these quotes.

36-year-old Mr. Iguana broke into his business in 2009, and after initially working some matches for CMLL in 2015, he would go on to perform for their fierce rivals, AAA, in 2018. This would eventually see AAA become his home promotion, and thanks to WWE’s acquisition of the lucha libre company, he appears set to be one of the most unexpected WWE Superstars ever.
