Miro Reportedly Turned Down AEW Creative Pitch

Fightful Select recently reported that Miro had been absent from AEW television due to creative having nothing for him. However, that has now been disputed by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, with it claimed AEW did have a storyline for him, but Miro himself turned it down. Which considering he went along with his wife leaving him for Bobby Lashley in WWE, it makes you wonder what he could have possibly rejected this time. Nevertheless, AEW remains in talks with him, and he is expected back soon, seemingly when both parties agree on an angle.

Fightful reported that Miro was healthy and not doing acting and was not being used because there was no creative idea for him. The first part is accurate. Ideas were presented for him in September for an angle that would go through Full Gear but he wasn’t down with them, so rather than put him on TV for no purpose, they were waiting for him to agree to creative He’s expected back soon and the sides have been talking.

The start of Miro’s AEW run could have been better due to him being aligned with Kip Sabian and having a gamer gimmick. Thankfully, though, everyone involved realized it wasn’t working, and Miro would evolve into “The Redeemer” and “God’s Favorite Champion,” becoming one of the best characters and performers in the company. Nevertheless, he has been absent from television since September and has only wrestled four times in 2022 so far, which is a massive underutilization of the former WWE star.
