Malakai Black Has Reportedly Considered Taking A “Permanent Break” From Wrestling

One of the biggest wrestling stories of the past week has been that Malakai Black had requested his release from AEW. And while it was initially assumed to be because he wanted to return to WWE to work for Triple H, it’s now been reported by PWInsider.com that he may have wanted out to take a break from the business. As according to the report, there has been a personal issue he has been dealing with, which has seen him go as far as consider permanently quitting wrestling.

We can confirm that in speaking to closes source to Black, there has been a personal situation weighing heavily on him and he’s privately talked about taking a long, perhaps permanent, break from professional wrestling, in order to deal with the issues.

Last month, Black revealed on TikTok that he has been dealing with back issues for the past year and feared he would be forced into retirement. However, he has since been able to rehab. And perhaps this explains why Tony Khan hasn’t pushed him as strongly as he initially did with him squashing Cody Rhodes in his first match. Hopefully, though, whatever Black is dealing with can be resolved, as he can be a huge star in AEW and a great asset for the company when fully fit and in the suitable head space.
