WWE star Liv Morgan likely continues to grapple with lingering anxiety after multiple sources reported that the man accused of stalking her was found not guilty by reason of insanity. Shawn Chan, a Canadian resident, was arrested in May 2025 after traveling to Morgan’s Florida home with surveillance footage capturing him attempting to enter her property and leaving a disturbing note. However, having been diagnosed with a delusional disorder, the judge has placed Chan in ICE custody and ordered that he be deported back to Canada.
“Chan waived a jury trial, so Judge Mary S. Scriven made the call herself during a hearing that lasted just over 30 minutes. The ruling came after two psychologists found Chan was so mentally ill that he could not understand the wrongfulness of what he was doing … After the verdict, Judge Scriven ordered the U.S. Marshals Service to coordinate with ICE and release Chan into its custody. Since Chan is a Canadian resident, he is expected to remain in ICE custody while deportation proceedings move forward.” – Ringside News
Morgan’s ordeal has drawn renewed attention to Sonya Deville’s own terrifying experience in August 2020, when an obsessed fan, Phillip Thomas II, broke into her Florida home armed with a knife, zip ties, and duct tape. Deville bravely triggered her alarm and escaped while calling 911. Thomas later pleaded guilty to attempted kidnapping and stalking and was sentenced to 15 years in prison, followed by 15 years of probation. Both incidents highlight the serious threats female WWE superstars continue to face from dangerous fans.
