Not only was Kenny Omega’s career at risk, but so was his life when he went down with diverticulitis in 2023. Thankfully, the surgery that removed about 20 inches worth of intestines and colon would successfully cure him, and has allowed the Canadian to resume wrestling. However, during a recent interview with WOR, Omega has revealed ahead of his featured match with Kazuchika Okada at next weekend’s All In pay-per-view that there “isn’t much left,” with matches being so draining, he ends up sidelined for an entire week afterwards.
41-year-old Omega was one of AEW’s first signings, and while his time with the company has been memorable, he has unfortunately missed a considerable amount of ring time due to requiring hernia and knee surgeries in addition to the aforementioned diverticulitis diagnosis. He was also suspended for his part in the now-infamous All Out post-show brawl, further reducing his ring time, although based on what is known about the altercation, he was one of the cooler heads involved.
