Jon Moxley Vs. Brian Cage Moved To Fight For The Fallen

The much-anticipated AEW championship match between Jon Moxley and Brian Cage was initially scheduled to be recorded last night, and air next week as part of the second Fyter Fest themed episode of Dynamite. That plan had to be scrapped after Moxley’s wife, Renee Young, tested posted for COVID-19. Although Moxley has not tested positive himself, he has been stayed away from the tapings as a precaution.

AEW addressed Moxley’s absence by having Taz, the manager of Brian Cage, cut a promo. He would say Moxley was afraid of his man and was using his wife’s diagnosis as an excuse to buy himself more time. He’d add that Moxley was suffering from a case of the “chickenshits.”

The match will now take place at a Fight For The Fallen special episode of Dynamite on July 15th, the earliest opportunity to have the match. Last year’s Fight for the Fallen was a PPV quality show streamed on B/R Live in North America, and on pay-per-view internationally, with the gate proceeds given to the victims of gun violence. This year’s event will support COVID-19 relief, which the Khan family has already donated $1 million towards.
