Last week, it was reported by FOX Sports that John Cena would be returning to WWE for the first time since Money In The Bank for the September 1st episode of SmackDown. Subsequently, it would also come out that he’d be wrestling at WWE Superstar Spectacle the following week, teaming with Seth Rollins against Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser in a tag team match. And now the company has issued a press release confirming that the 16-time world champion will actually be a SmackDown regular through to the end of October.
“The 16-time World Champion will appear on following dates:
- Friday, September 1 – Hershey, Pa. – The Giant Center
- Friday, September 15 – Denver – Ball Arena
- Friday, September 22 – Glendale, Ariz. – Desert Diamond Arena
- Friday, September 29 – Sacramento, Calif. – Golden 1 Center
- Friday, October 6 – St. Louis – Enterprise Center
- Friday, October 13 – Tulsa, Okla. – BOK Center
- Friday, October 20 – San Antonio – AT&T Center
- Friday, October 27 – Milwaukee – Fiserv Forum”
Why 46-year-old Cena is choosing to return to the WWE for such a run hasn’t been officially confirmed. However, the speculation is that it is down to the SAG-AFTRA strikes, which began on July 14, freeing up his schedule.
