Jinder Mahal States What Would Be Required For Him To Join AEW

Almost as soon as WWE released Jinder Mahal in 2024, speculation commenced online that he could be AEW-bound because Tony Khan has previously brought in several former WWE talents to expand his roster. Yet, since then, he’s mainly been working on the indie scene, under the name Raj Dhesi, with his most high-profile matches being for GCW and AAA.

And now, during an interview with TMZ, the former WWE Champion has discussed joining AEW, saying there would need to be a plan for him, while revealing he mainly follows the product via social media.

“I would have to see if the business makes sense. What’s the storyline? Is there a plan for me, or am I just coming to do nothing? I’m past that point in my life, past that point in my career. Whatever I do, I want to do something next level … I watched a little bit. I do a good job of keeping track of what’s going on in wrestling. Do I sit and watch the entire show? No, but I kind of see through social media what’s going on.”Jinder Mahal

39-year-old Mahal had two runs with WWE, the first being from 2010 to 2014 and then from 2016 to 2024. During this time, he would lose far more matches than he ever won, although when the company decided to pursue the Indian market, they not only pushed Mahal but had him defeat Randy Orton to win the WWE Championship. Still, the experiment ultimately failed, with ticket sales in the country failing to meet expectations, and Mahal would fall back down the card, and even returned to NXT briefly in an attempt to reboot his career.
