Jaxson Ryker Retires From Pro Wrestling

Jaxson Ryker, real name Chad Lail, was a regular on Main Event during his WWE run but was released by the company in November 2021. Since then, he has wrestled a handful of matches on the independent scene, and now, following an appearance on Saturday night for AML Wrestling, has officially confirmed his in-ring retirement. He did this by leaving his boots in the ring, as can be seen in the photos below, which is a retirement tradition.

41-year-old Ryker first made his name in TNA as Gunner between 2010 and 2015; however, his actual big break came in 2017 when he signed for WWE and, the following year, began teaming with Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler as The Forgotten Sons. The long-term plan for the group was to defeat The New Day to become SmackDown Tag Team Champions, but plans changed when Ryker was sent home.

The reason for this was because Ryker had received backlash after tweeting support for Donald Trump following the George Floyd tragedy and BLM protests. Not only did he bring unwanted publicity to the WWE, but he also had heat with other wrestlers. Nevertheless, while his partner’s careers would flounder and they found themselves released, Ryker would get another chance when he was put alongside Elias on Raw during the ThunderDome era.
