With CM Punk no longer contracted to AEW, speculation has now turned to where he could end up wrestling next. And while some anticipate him eventually returning to WWE, there are a lot of blockers to that. Therefore, his future may lie elsewhere, and now PWInsiderElite.com is reporting that not only is Impact Wrestling open to working with him, but they are actually “super excited about the idea.”
“Among other promotions, we have heard that Impact Wrestling was super excited about the idea of Punk potentially working there but I don’t know that realistically, that would be a long-term option.”
Whether Impact Wrestling could afford Punk remains to be seen, but it is understood the promotion has significant financial backing thanks to parent company Anthem Sports & Entertainment. Nevertheless, it would be a considerable drop in status for Punk, whose last match before his firing was in front of over 81,000 fans at Wembley Stadium.
