Val Venis has announced on X.com that he is coming out of retirement to face Rico Gold at an independent wrestling event on July 23. The former WWE and TNA wrestler warned that his opponent has severely underestimated him and promised to deliver his signature Money Shot finisher. Venis previously quietly retired in 2023 after wrestling only a handful of matches since 2021, and it remains unclear whether this is a one-off return or the start of a more active comeback.
“Hey everybody, Val Venis here. I got some big news for all you fans out there. July 23rd, The Big Valbowski is coming out of retirement. That’s right, I’m stepping back into the ring. And Rico Gold, you have bitten off more than you can chew, my friend. You’re gonna feel the Money Shot.” – Val Venis
55-year-old Venis, real name Sean Morley, debuted in the WWF in 1998 and enjoyed a memorable run with the company. During that time, he captured two Intercontinental Championships, one European Championship, and the World Tag Team Championship with Lance Storm. A notable figure in the Attitude Era, The Big Valbowski had memorable feuds with Kaientai, Rikishi, Goldust, and Mankind, and later competed as part of Right to Censor and under the Chief Morley persona after being repackaged.
