Earlier this week, it was reported that AEW had extended Danhausen’s contract into 2026 due to the time he missed because of injury, despite the fact that he’d only been booked once in the past year. The online speculation is that this was done because WWE is seriously interested in signing him. And now adding to this belief, Dave Meltzer has reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that at one time, The Rock was a big fan.
35-year-old Danhausen broke into the business in 2013, initially going by the name Donovan Danger on the Michigan indie scene. From there, he began to build up a reputation for his comedy work, and thanks to Alex Shelley pushing for him, he joined ROH in 2019. Unfortunately, his ROH run would end when the company went on hiatus and released their entire roster, although this opened the door for him to join AEW and share his unique act with a much larger audience.
