Will Ospreay’s New Japan contract expires in February, and many assumed he was headed to AEW full-time when he lawfully could. This is because he has occasionally appeared on their shows since 2022 and recently defeated Chris Jericho at All In. However, it turns out that his decision may not be that straightforward, as according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is “very, very interested in him.“
“I know WWE is absolutely after him, and he is absolutely going to listen to WWE. WWE is very, very interested in him. Of course, everyone is, and they should be.”
Dave Meltzer30-year-old Ospreay made his in-ring debut back in 2012 as the masked character Dark Britannico. Subsequently, he would become a fixture on the British independent circuit, working for promotions like Rev Pro and Progress Wrestling. His big break would come in 2016 when, following the recommendation of Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi, and AJ Styles, he joined New Japan, where he has been a regular ever since. Additionally, during this time, he has also wrestled for Ring of Honor, AEW, and, most recently, Impact Wrestling.
