In very worrying news, AEW’s latest set of television tapings had to be paused following an apparent injury to Kota Ibushi. According to those in attendance, the Japanese star fell off the top rope during a match with Josh Alexander and landed badly, resulting in him being counted out. At present, his injury status is unconfirmed, but PWInsider.com has reported that those backstage believe he suffered a broken femur, which would explain why he was filmed leaving the venue in an ambulance.
43-year-old Ibushi broke into the business via DDT Pro-Wrestling in 2004 and became a star in his home country during his time with New Japan. However, in recent years, he has had to deal with multiple injuries, which have kept him out of the ring and severely hindered his AEW career. Therefore, this injury couldn’t have come at a worse time, as he had resumed wrestling for AEW back in June.
