Shad Gaspard died a hero by having his 10-year-old son Aryeh’s saved before himself when the pair were caught in a riptide while swimming last Sunday. Since then, the wrestling world has been grieving the loss of a genuinely loved man, and on Friday, friends of the family set up a GoFundMe to cover his wife’s bills and help Aryeh’s future college fund.
The target was set at $100,000, and amazingly at the time of writing $118,000 has been raised thanks to over 800 donors. Many of the donors are well known to wrestling fans, and someone using “CTC RIP” as their display name donated $40,000. It’s been suggested that this was John Cena, as he had a short-lived faction called “Cryme Tyme Cenation” alongside Gaspard and JTG in 2008, but this is just social media speculation.
While the target has been reached, you can still donate at GoFundMe, and support Shad’s family at this terrible time.
