With both AEW and ROH always needing fresh wrestlers, Tony Khan is constantly on the lookout for new names that he can immediately introduce to viewers. And now, after ending a six-year run in TNA back in May, Ace Austin has made his AEW debut during this week’s Collision taping against Ricochet. The former three-time X-Division Champion would ultimately be unsuccessful in his first match for the company, putting over his bigger-name rival. Still, Khan would subsequently announce to fans in attendance that the 28-year-old was officially All Elite, having already signed a contract.
Austin broke into the business in 2015 after training at the Wild Samoan’s wrestling school and was soon working on the independent scene. Then, having gained experience, he would begin working for both MLW and TNA, at the time known as Impact Wrestling, which put him on the radar of fans for the first time and opened the door for him to compete for New Japan. Therefore, it was surprising when it was confirmed he was departing TNA, with it being believed the two sides couldn’t agree on the terms for a new deal.
