In somewhat surprising news, it has been reported by Fightful Select that former NXT star Chris Hero is set to be backstage for tonight’s Collision. No specific job role was given; however, considering BJ Whitmer was recently let go, it may be for a producer’s role. Nevertheless, it is noted this is a trial opportunity.
“Chris Hero is being looked at as a potential name to join All Elite Wrestling in at least a backstage capacity, Fightful Select has learned. We’ve been told that Hero was scheduled to be in town and was at least slated to be backstage at the AEW Collision debut in Chicago tonight, working with the company on a trial basis.”
Fightful SelectHero began his wrestling journey in the late ’90s. He gained recognition in promotions like Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, and Combat Zone Wrestling. Hero’s hard-hitting style and ability to adapt to various opponents made him a sought-after talent. He later joined WWE’s developmental territory, NXT, under the ring name Kassius Ohno. However, after being released by the company for a second time in 2020, he has taken a hiatus from the ring.
