Current NXT Wrestler Is Not Having His Contract Renewed

In disappointing news for fans of acrobatic high-flying wrestling, Fightful Select has reported that NXT’s Scrypts, previously known as both Reginald and Reggie, is set to depart WWE. However, rather than being released, his contract is simply being allowed to run out as there are only a few months remaining on it. However, on a positive note, it was stated that he plans to continue in the business and will likely use the name Sidney Akeem going forward.

“Fightful Select has learned that Scrypts’, formerly known as Reggie, contract is set to expire at the start of June. He’s been informed that the deal will be expiring and he will be a free agent. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp has learned that Scrypts, who will likely go by Sidney Akeem, plans to continue wrestling and expected his deal to not be renewed.”

31-year-old Scrypts previously worked for Cirque du Soleil before joining WWE in 2020 and being introduced as a French sommelier named Reginald alongside Carmella. From there, he would make his in-ring debut almost exactly a year after signing with the company, working an intergender match with Sasha Banks.

Yet, with his gimmick having a short shelf life, he soon became just Reggie and regularly featured on television going after the 24/7 Championship, which he ended up winning four times. Still, despite this, he was repackaged for a second time in 2022 when he was moved to NXT and became a mysterious masked wrestler known as Scrypts.
