Following Bar Fight Victory Jeff Hardy Hopes His “Dead Horse Of A Soul” Can Stop Being Beat

In a match originally scheduled for The Horror Show at Extreme Rules PPV, but moved to SmackDown to get viewers, Jeff Hardy took on Sheamus in a “Bar Fight.” This appeared to be the conclusion of the contentious program between the pair that had been built around Jeff Hardy’s highly publicized past battle with drug and alcohol addiction.

The match itself was the highlight of SmackDown and a worthy payoff to a program that has been a significant part of the show dating back to May. It did feature the revolting moment of Hardy having his face pushed into a urinal, which likely had to be cleared ahead of time by Fox’s Standards and Practices. Hardy would ultimately get revenge and won the match after hitting a Swanton Bomb off a ladder.

Following the match, Hardy gave an inspirational interview for the WWE Network, where he said he hoped his “dead horse of a soul” could stop being beat, and he could move on to more positive storylines.

The bar match was intense just like I expected it to be, but now that it’s over hopefully my dead horse of a soul the last few months can finally stop being beat if you know what I’m saying because it’s just the demons and the struggle with alcoholism it’s kinda overwhelming at times, but now that this is behind me it’s time to move onto something brighter and better, but it’s my past.

It’s always going to be a part of my life, and I look forward to challenging myself each and every day to move on in that right direction. Jeff Hardy

Matt Hardy was not a fan of this angle as he felt it added unnecessary pressure to his brother Jeff, so he’ll be relieved that it is now over.
