Edge made a triumphant return from a torn triceps to win the Royal Rumble match this past weekend. This means in kayfabe, he can pick which champion he wants to challenge at WrestleMania. He already confronted Drew McIntyre on Raw, telling the current WWE Champion that he is currently assessing his options and that no matter who he chooses, he will leave WrestleMania as a champion.
Now the Rated R Super has appeared on NXT and teased going after the NXT Championship. He did this by interrupting NXT Champion Finn Bálor and Pete Dunne, who is wrestling at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day on Sunday, February 14. Edge would say that sometimes WWE focuses too much on the “E.” However, in NXT, they focused on the second “W,” and the brand helped him find his passion for wrestling again. He also said he would be watching their match, noting he has never been NXT Champion.
As Edge appears to be going between shows building up to when he makes his decision, he’ll likely be on SmackDown this Friday. It’s been reported that WWE has already decided on Edge vs. Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship to be the main event of one of the two nights of Wrestlemania 37, so it is likely just a matter of time until WWE announces it. In the meantime, though, Edge and WWE will try and keep fans speculating.
