Eddie Kingston Asks Fans To Leave Sammy Guevara Alone Following Their Backstage Altercation

On Wednesday, it came out that AEW had suspended Eddie Kingston after he got into a backstage altercation with Sammy Guevera at the promotions August 10th tapings in Minneapolis. Kingston was unhappy that Guevara called him fat in an aired promo, and the pair had to be separated. Since then, both men have commented, with Kingston first acknowledging the incident occurred, saying he was unprofessional and wrong. And then Guevara would tell Fightful that Kingston should have made him aware that mocking his body type was off limits in a promo.

Since then, Guevara has been receiving a lot of social media abuse from fans, despite Kingston admitting he was in the wrong. Now though, the incredibly popular Kingston has asked his followers to leave “the kid alone,” adding he is done talking about the situation.

Backstage fights and similar incidents are nothing new in the wrestling business, with pro wrestling locker rooms sometimes likened to high school. Nevertheless, with the pair initially scheduled to wrestle at All Out, there is a chance this is a work to build up fan interest. However, that hasn’t been confirmed, and it has been speculated that the match may now be canceled. Which, if accurate, will prove this was genuinely a shoot.
